. Close to the geographical center
of the state, nearly equal
distance from the east and
west coast and half way
between the Georgia-Florida
border and the southern tip
of the peninsula, Polk is
located within the
Interstate-4 corridor
approximately 25 statute
miles east of
Tampa
and 35
statute miles southwest of
Orlando
.
The airport is comprised of
approximately 450 acres of
land.
Winter
Haven Municipal Airport is
owned and operated by the
City of Winter Haven and
provides a full-range of
corporate/business and
general aviation services to
the surrounding community.
The Airport's mission is to
serve the City of Winter
Haven and the surrounding
area with full aviation
services by attracting
corporate, business and
recreational flight
activities. GIF strives to
fulfill this mission by
maintaining current
facilities, offering a full
range of aviation services
and providing economic
benefits for the surrounding
community. In its immediate
vicinity, the airport serves
approximately 85,000 people
residing in Winter Haven,
Auburndale, Lake Alfred and Haines City.
Aviation services include
flight training, aircraft
fueling, maintenance,
rental, sales and courtesy
vehicle.

Wings of Freedom Stop in Winter Haven\
The Collings Foundation's Wings of Freedom Tour will stop in Winter Haven January 23-25 at the Winter Haven Municipal Airport - Gilbert Field.
The tour includes vintage World War II aircraft, including a B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator and P-51 Mustang. The aircraft will be open for tours and flights.
All WW II veterans can tour the aircraft free. The public can also tour the aircraft inside and out at a cost of $12 for adults and $6 for children. Flights are available for purchase. Visit www.collingsfoundation.org for more information.

Aviation Art Exhibition
The City of Winter Haven and Fantasy of Flight have partnered to sponsor an aviation-themed art exhibition at the Winter Haven Municipal Airport. The event was a juried competition. All artwork will be displayed at the Airport through May 1, 2012, during normal terminal hours. Be sure to stop by to view the display, and visit Pappy's Grill while you're at the Airport.
